2018 Frozen Four Bracket | College Hockey Playoff Results

Now that March Madness is officially over, I think it’s time we all finally start to focus on college hockey. In case you haven’t been keeping up, you missed a hell of a college hockey playoff. While everyone was hyped on the first 16 seed upset by UMBC over No. 1 Virginia or the 11 seed Loyola-Chicago on their Final Four run, the sports world remained silent on the excitement in the hockey bracket.

For starters, the West Region consisted of only upsets. No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth upset No. 2 Minnesota State 3-1 in the battle for the North Star State (a rivalry name I am attempting to start) as well as No. 4 with a huge upset over the number 1 team in the nation, St. Cloud State, 4-1. Unfortunately, the Falcons upset reign ended shortly after as the Bulldogs took a close 2-1 victory to advance to the Frozen Four where they’ll take on the No. 1 seed powerhouse Ohio State.

The Northeast Region also shared an upset as No. 4 Boston University defeated No. 1 Cornell 3-1. They later went on to lose in the quarterfinals to 2 seed Michigan 6-3, who previously beat Northeastern 3-2. The East and Midwest Regions played out exactly as they were seated with No. 1 Notre Dame taking down No. 2 Providence 2-1 and No. 1 Ohio State dismantling No. 2 Denver 5-1.

As the Frozen Four draws nearer with the matchups starting tomorrow, the college sports world as more excitement to look forward to. Although Michigan fans were sent home disappointed from their devastating loss to Villanova in the basketball championship, they can still look forward to their heated matchup against Notre Dame. It should be a very interesting one as the Wolverines are 2-2 against the Fighting Irish this year on the ice.

Although the 23-16-3 Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs have not had the opportunity to play the terrifying 26-9-5 Ohio State Buckeyes this year, we can all hope for an exciting match from this Cinderella team. Here are the results from the college hockey playoffs as well as the 2018 Frozen Four bracket:

  1. This design is spectacular! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
